In June we reported on the integration of the Solana blockchain into the World Series of Poker ecosystem. Thanks to this, players gained the ability to pay their buy-ins with cryptocurrency. Now Solana's product director Vibhu Norby has shared some financial results of the partnership on the PokerNews podcast.
According to Norby, payments via Solana accounted for about 6% of all buy-ins at the WSOP. The total amount of player transactions on the platform reached $23,000,000.

"We did this for the first time. We've never sponsored anything before. The only reason we went for it is that we felt we truly had a product and the ability to improve the poker industry. It felt like something more than just placing our logo," Norby noted. In addition, during the Main Event final table, the first-ever $100,000 WSOP Solana Showdown freeroll took place. Nine well-known figures from the crypto world took part in the Sit-n-Go format tournament. The event was won by trader Rasmr, who took home a special bracelet, $50,000, and a trip to WSOP Paradise in December.
