Two-time WSOP champion Brent Carter has passed away
Two-time World Series bracelet winner Brent Carter has passed away at the age of 77. The cause of death is currently unknown, but over the past few years the player suffered several heart attacks and strokes.

Carter's career began in the 1980s and ended in 2015. He won his first WSOP bracelet in 1991 in the $1500 No-Limit Hold'Em ($166,800), and his second in 1994 in the $1500 Pot-Limit Omaha ($83,400). Carter's best cash was $302,750 for third place in the 1995 World Series Main Event.

In 2011 and 2012, Carter also earned two WSOP Circuit rings, taking home more than $34,000 in total for those results. The player's career winnings stand at $3,099,501.

In 2021, Brent Carter found himself at the center of a scandal after sending letters containing white powder to the headquarters of the New York State Gaming Commission (NYSGC) on four occasions. Following an FBI investigation, he pleaded guilty to a hoax and spreading false information. The court did not sentence him to prison, crediting the time he had already spent in custody. However, the player was placed under three years of supervision.

It was reported that the motive for sending the letters was a 1976 incident, when the commission suspended Carter's horse-racing license as part of a fraud investigation. As a result of the proceedings, all charges against the WSOP champion were fully dropped.
