ESPN has integrated AI-based tells analysis into its WSOP broadcasts
July 15, 2026

ESPN has begun using an artificial intelligence system in its World Series of Poker broadcasts that analyzes players' nonverbal cues in real time.
The neural network tracks, in real time, participants' facial expressions, eye movements, posture, and blink rate. The algorithm cross-references this data with actions at the table — bet sizing, decision timing, and hand history. Based on the analysis, the viewer is shown a percentage probability of the strength of the hand — from a bluff to the nuts.
To ensure competitive integrity and eliminate any possibility of tipping off players, the organizers have imposed a strict procedural restriction: ESPN displays the AI analysis results on viewers' screens only after the player being evaluated has finished participating in the hand or has been eliminated from the tournament.
