The 2026 WSOP Main Event sets records for most countries represented and female participation

It was previously announced that the World Series of Poker Main Event field became the fourth-largest in history, drawing 9,208 players. Alongside this, the flagship tournament has set two new demographic records.

According to Pokerfuse, this year's Main Event features players from 111 countries, marking the highest number in the tournament's history. In 2025, players from 103 countries entered, while 2024 saw representation from 108. International players represented 38.8% of the field, also marking the largest non-US share in the last three years.

Conversely, the percentage of Main Event entrants from the US, Canada, and the UK is on the decline. Canada saw the sharpest drop, losing nearly 12% of its player base. Nevertheless, these three nations remain the most heavily represented. Outside of them, France leads the pack, sending 296 players to the felt in 2026. The rest of the top ten includes Japan, Brazil, China, Israel, Spain, and Germany.

Female participation in the Main Event has also hit a record high. This year, the tournament attracted 431 female players (4.68% of the total field), up from 369 (3.79%) in 2025. Observers note that many female players still prefer to allocate a $10,000 bankroll across multiple events rather than firing a single bullet at the Main Event. Following Day 4 of the Main Event, two women are riding high in the top 100 chip counts — Sasha Liu (30th, 2,340,000 chips) and Kaitlyn Komesky (65th, 1,740,000 chips).
