The ratio reads straight off the sizing: for every bet of 50% pot you should hold 0.33 bluffs per value hand. More bluffs and your opponent can call with anything; fewer and you are under-bluffing and losing money on the river.

How this is worked out
A balanced river bet is built so that your opponent can neither always call nor always fold. The ratio comes straight out of the bet size: the bigger the bet, the more bluffs you are entitled to put alongside each value hand.
The formula
Bluffs per 1 value hand = Bet ÷ (Pot + Bet)
A half-pot bet gives 0.33 bluffs per value hand — one bluff for every three value hands. A pot-sized bet gives 0.5: one bluff per two value hands. A two-pot overbet is already 0.67, nearly a bluff for every value hand.
The pot «as in the client»
Rooms display the pot with the bet that just went in already included, while the formula needs the pot before it. The «as in the client» switch saves you the mental arithmetic: type the number straight off the table and the calculator subtracts the bet itself.
Why it matters in practice
You do not need to count the balance to the exact combo in every hand — opponents rarely punish under-bluffing. But knowing the ratio helps: it shows how many bluffs you are even allowed to look for. If the sizing calls for four and your range holds one, you are under-bluffing, and your river bets read as pure value.
