WPN has rolled out a feature to protect against screen recording
Winning Poker Network, which owns ACR Poker, has announced a security system update amid the scandal involving Paul Gregg and the Mesh Agent trojan.

The network's rooms have introduced a ScreenShield feature that prevents screen capture. When it's active, everything looks normal to the player, but screencast software can't see — and therefore can't record video from — the protected tables.

WPN has already contacted players on whose computers programs with screen capture capabilities were detected and activated ScreenShield for them. It is separately emphasized that this was done as a precautionary measure, and no evidence was found that these players' devices had been hacked.

WPN CEO Phil Nagy said that controls for the ScreenShield feature may appear in the poker client itself, and that the company has shared the technology with other operators:
"Going forward, we will apply ScreenShield in cases where the established criteria allow it. Players can also request ScreenShield activation through customer support, and we are working to provide the ability to control this feature directly in the poker client in the future.

But ScreenShield can't solve absolutely every security problem. It's another layer of protection, not a magic button.

In addition, we have shared information with other online poker operators on how such protection can be implemented. I believe player security is more important than competition."

Nagy also noted that WPN software was not the cause of the Mesh Agent's spread, and that the network's security team is conducting an investigation and analyzing accounts that may be linked to Paul Gregg.
