"A dream come true." Jumalon wins the WSOP 2026 Main Event

American Lucas Djumalon has won the 2026 World Series of Poker Main Event. In the heads-up, the 22-year-old player defeated Finn Lauri Saaskilahti, who earned $6,000,000 for his result. Djumalon took home $10,000,000 and became the second-youngest Main Event champion in history, after 21-year-old Joe Cada in 2009.
The heads-up lasted a little over an hour. Djumalon's chip lead came under threat only once. Saaskilahti took a pot of 135,000,000, going all-in with ♥️♦️ preflop against his opponent's ♠️♣️. On the ♠️♦️♦️ flop both players made a pair, the ♦️ on the turn brought Djumalon closer to the title, but the ♦️ on the river gave the Finn a flush and nearly evened out the opponents' stacks.
Djumalon still managed to hold on to his advantage and see the job through to victory. In the final hand he opened with ♠️♦️ for 38,000,000, and Saaskilahti called with ♠️♦️. On the ♠️♦️♠️ flop the American made a pair, and the ♣️ on the river gave him trips and the title. Djumalon couldn't hold back his tears and spent a long time hugging his rail, where his father was also present.
"I have no words, I'm so happy. I hope that with my win I can bring young people into poker. I didn't think it was possible. It's a dream come true. My father is my hero, and it was very emotional to celebrate the title with him. I hope I can turn this win into something like what Chris Moneymaker did. I'll be happy if I can bring new people into poker," Djumalon said before the bracelet ceremony.
