Regular Daniel Nielson, who sits 6th on Australia's All-Time Money List, became champion of the $50,000 Sovereign 50K event, held as part of the King Poker Cup in Jeju. The Australian claimed the title despite playing blackout drunk on the final day.
The tournament drew 73 entries, and stars like Jesse Lonis and Tom Dwan busted before ITM. Ryuta Nakai, Punnat Punsri and Tan Xuan reached the final table, collecting six-figure payouts. Over the course of the final table, Nielson knocked out two opponents on kicker alone: ♥️♣️ > ♦️♦️ against Jun Wang on a ♦️♠️♠️♣️♥️ board, and ♣️♥️ > ♦️♦️ against Feixian Zhuan on a ♠️♠️2️⃣♦️2️⃣ board.
