A 100-year-old poker player competed in the Goliath tournament
Ivor Ward became the oldest participant in the Goliath series in Coventry. The British player, aged 100, took part in the £200 buy-in event, breaking his own record from last year.
Ward made his first entry in flight 1A, and the day before he returned to the table in flight 1E. On the fourth starting day, 1,665 players took part in the tournament, and the total number of entries reached 7,839. Ward wasn't able to carry his stack into day two, but there are still two more standard starting flights and two turbo flights ahead.
In an interview, Ivor Ward advised young players to start with free online tournaments and study the fundamentals of poker. In addition, the 100-year-old record holder said: "I've been playing Goliath for the fourth year in a row now. Do I hope to win? Of course, every year. I'll keep playing as long as I can."
