Jason Koon raised $26,000 to help hometowns affected by flooding

Triton Poker's all-time titles leader Jason Koon raised funds for the towns of Weston and Buckhannon in West Virginia, which were hit by severe flooding. The player, who sits third on the All-Time Money List, launched a fundraiser on the GoFundMe platform. On his page, Koon explained that he couldn't stand aside, since he had spent his childhood and youth in these towns and maintained close ties with the local community.

Koon initially planned to raise $14,000 and was the first to contribute $10,000, but in two days the amount was nearly doubled. Other members of the poker industry joined the Triton and WSOP champion's initiative. Among them were players Phil Hellmuth ($1,500), David Chen ($2,000), and Jason Strasser ($2,000), as well as commentator Jeff Platt ($100). Through their combined efforts, they managed to raise $25,901, after which Koon rounded the amount up to $26,000 and closed the fundraiser.

"We will account for every dollar spent, so that the money goes directly to those who need it most. Our goal is to help with the recovery, provide people with everything they need, and support families as they get back on their feet after this disaster. A big thank you to everyone who helped. I love you and West Virginia," Koon wrote on the fundraiser page.

Jason Koon has also already shared how he distributed the collected donations:
🟣 $6,000 to Weston Rotary Church, which helps with cleanup and providing the community with essential resources;
🟡 $6,000 to Hopes Point Church, which feeds the hungry and provides other assistance;
🟣 $6,000 to the South Buckhannon Mission Church charity fund;
🟡 $4,000 to the Weston senior citizens' assistance center;
🟣 4 grants of $1,000 each — to help the neediest low-income families in the region.
