Michael Mizrachi Clinches Ninth WSOP Bracelet in PLO Championship

Michael Mizrachi wins ninth WSOP bracelet in the PLO Championship

Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi became the champion of the $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship at the World Series of Poker. "The Grinder" outlasted a field of 836 players, holding the lead from the late levels of Day 1, and earned $1,350,203.

Mizrachi only briefly gave up first place to Jesse Lonis during Day 3, when the latter knocked out Aaron Kupin. However, "The Grinder" didn't let Lonis pull away, taking down the tournament's biggest pot. Mizrachi put in all of his 8,275,000 chips after a 4,500,000 barrel from Lonis on the turn. Mizrachi had pocket aces against his opponent's pair of sevens and a gutshot. The ♠️ on the river didn't improve Lonis, bringing "The Grinder" to 11,500,000 chips.

At the final table, Mizrachi successively eliminated Toby Joyce, Lonis again, Ian Matakis, Martin Zamani and Michael Han. Facing him in heads-up was Asian Poker Tour and World Poker Tour winner Zarvan Tumboli.

The Indian player managed to claw back most of his chip deficit, winning a cooler with a stronger full house against Mizrachi's full house. In the deciding hand, Tumboli with ♠️♥️♦️♥️ went all-in after a ♠️♥️♠️ flop, and Mizrachi called with ♥️♦️♥️♠️. The ♣️ gave Mizrachi extra outs, and after the ♠️ on the river "The Grinder" got there with a straight. Tumboli earned $900,088 for second place.

Michael Mizrachi tied for total bracelet count with Benny Glaser and Johnny Moss. Only Doyle Brunson, Erik Seidel, Johnny Chan, Phil Ivey and Phil Hellmuth have more titles. In a PokerNews interview after his win, Mizrachi stated that he wants to match Hellmuth's record and win 17 bracelets.
"Obviously, every bracelet is an incredible achievement. Winning the Poker Players' Championship four times, winning the main event — it's insane. But I'm already tired of winning the PPC, so this year we mixed up the approach a bit. Let Glaser win it, let him enjoy it. It's his first PPC title, he earned it, he's an amazing player.

I'm going to catch Hellmuth. That's my goal. It's still a long road... I need to win two or three bracelets a year on average. Hopefully I'll grab another title this summer, and then a few more in the winter in the Bahamas."
