Hackers breached Binance and withdrew nearly $6 billion to their own wallets

Cryptocurrency exchange Binance has likely suffered a major hacker attack. According to analysts, assets from several of the exchange's hot wallets were transferred to third-party blockchain addresses. CoinBase's head of product Conor Grogan stated that the damage could amount to $5.8 billion.
Binance said it is conducting an investigation and has not yet confirmed whether user funds were affected. Stablecoin issuers have already responded to the hack. Tether, the issuer of USDT, froze assets worth more than $1.5 billion, while Circle, the issuer of USDC, blocked tokens worth more than $800 million.
The prediction market Polymarket was also attacked. The platform reported that one of its third-party service providers was hacked. According to Reuters, it was DebugBear — a website performance monitoring service.
The hacker managed to withdraw $2.65 million in assets to their own account, after which the funds began to be transferred to other addresses.
Because of this incident, the platform temporarily suspended trading, but the problem has now been resolved and operations have resumed. Polymarket handed over all the necessary data to the UK authorities and promised to compensate the affected users.
