Texas to open its first poker club created by women

Marjorie Bradford and Jamie Kempf are opening The Den Poker Lounge, a poker club in Texas, on November 12. The project has been two years in the making, with the goal of bringing more women into the poker industry. That said, the founders emphasize that the venue won't be a space closed off to one gender, and they aim to create a comfortable atmosphere where every player is welcome.
Because of Texas anti-gambling legislation, which prohibits the classic rake from prize pots, the club will operate on a social membership model. Players will pay fixed membership fees for access to the club rather than giving up a percentage of the hands they play. The venue plans to install 15 tables for No-Limit Hold'em, as well as add Pot-Limit Omaha and mixed games to the rotation at the audience's request.
