$5 Ocean KO drew over 420,000 entries
All the starting flights for the $5 Ocean KO Opener on GGPoker have wrapped up. The event's entry count stopped at 420,084. That's a new record for an online poker tournament.
"Thank you for your support. And congratulations to everyone who made history today!" — that was GG's reaction on social media.
In fact, the record was already broken on October 9, when the number of entrants passed 270,000. At the same time, 250,972 unique players registered for the Ocean KO Opener. That's fewer than the $0.01 Common Cents Kik-Off on PokerStars drew back in 2015. That event was a freezeout, and 253,692 people played it.
The Ocean KO Opener prize pool reached $1,932,386, nearly doubling the guarantee. Four Russian players sit in the top 10 by stack — RandomCase (2nd place, 700.9 BB), Sherryfchan (3rd, 566.4 BB), PodPivkovich (7th, 498.1 BB) and BaGGaNoLeGGal (9th, 483.3 BB). And the top bounty haul at the moment belongs to Ukraine's DizzLike — $6,617.
