Jason Koon is ready to cut back on his tournament volume for the sake of his family

cutting back on tournaments for the sake of family
Triton's all-time title leader Jason Koon will skip the series' stop in Cyprus in November. The Hall of Fame member shared this in an interview with CardPlayer, explaining the decision by his desire to spend more time with his family after the birth of his third son.
"I skipped the last Triton series and I'll skip the next one too. I'm not particularly concerned with holding records for cashes or wins. My entire career was defined by the drive to make the maximum amount of money possible.
I really love being a dad. I have three kids now, so I'm going to spend a lot of time with them."
In addition, Koon stated that he's ready to step away from the tournament grind in the near future:
"I'm really not sure that I'll keep grinding. I love playing. I love learning, so I'll keep working on that. But I've always been open to other things. I'll still play poker, and if the market throws up an opportunity to make a lot of money and it's worth my effort, then I'll do it. If not — I'll switch to something else."
Jason Koon last played a Triton series in May at the festival in Montenegro, where he recorded seven cashes for a total of $2,615,500. He has 12 Triton titles and 81 ITM finishes to his name, which is also a record. Only Daniel Dvoress has recorded the same number of cashes, while Stephen Chidwick has 80 in-the-money finishes.
Last week Koon played a live tournament for the first time since the end of June, taking part in the Super High Roller Bowl XI with a $100,000 buy-in in Las Vegas. The American high roller busted before the money in that event. The champion was Brandon Wilson, who earned $1,125,000.
The Triton festival will take place in Cyprus from November 15 to 30. Before that, the cheaper Triton One series will be held at the same venue with buy-ins from $1,500 to $15,000.
