Las Vegas casino to use AI to spot winning players

The Treasure Island casino in Las Vegas will start using artificial intelligence to identify players who beat the house. This will become possible thanks to an expanded partnership with management systems developer OPTX.
The new system will be aimed at identifying guests who gain an edge in gambling games thanks to their mathematical knowledge. For example, they might resort to card counting in blackjack or to spotting positive-EV situations in slots. At the end of August, the Venetian casino banned blogger Matt "Vegas Matt" Morrow, accusing him of using one of these professional gambling strategies.
According to some players, Treasure Island is one of the Las Vegas casinos that is especially quick to restrict access for such winning guests. And OPTX previously helped another venue detect a player who had earned almost $2.4 million in slots thanks to a win frequency that was deemed statistically implausible.
