Adriaan Jacobs became the first African Poker Championship winner
South African poker player Adriaan Jacobs has won the Main Event of the debut African Poker Championship 2026 series in Tanzania. The youngest WSOP bracelet winner from South Africa battled through a field of 256 entries at Le Grande Casino in Dar es Salaam and took home $48,000 in prize money.
In the decisive heads-up, Aidan faced Britain's Anuj Sarin. The showdown was settled by a cooler on the river: on a board of A♣️K♠️Q♥️6♠️A♠️, Sarin made trip aces with A♥️2♦️ and shoved all-in in response to his opponent's bet. However, the ace of spades on the river simultaneously completed a flush for Jacobs with his 9♠️7♠️ — the South African instantly called and announced that the game was over.
