Austria's Kronwitter took first place in the PGT PLO leaderboard, edging out Soverel
The PGT PLO Series high-roller festival, part of the PokerGO Tour, has wrapped up in Las Vegas. The eight-tournament series drew a total of 542 entries and $5.48 million in prize money. First place on the leaderboard went convincingly to Jonas Kronwitter.

Right in the first event, with a $5,300 buy-in, Kronwitter made it to heads-up, where he lost to four-time WSOP bracelet winner Sam Soverel. The Austrian collected $79,625, while the Omaha specialist from the USA took $122,850.

Kronwitter then finished ninth twice: in another $5,300 PLO event and in the $10,500 PLO Quattro Bounty. The Austrian player claimed his first title of the series in the fifth tournament, the $10,500 PLO. That result earned him $201,600.

Kronwitter took his second win in the $15,700 PLO, the seventh event on the schedule. Heads-up, he struck a deal with Joni Jouhkimainen, taking the trophy and $267,563.

Sam Soverel cashed only twice, but both times he finished first. He became champion once again in the sixth event of the series, the $15,700 PLO Mystery, collecting $160,000 in prize money plus another $90,000 in bounties. That victory gave the American his 17th PGT title, extending his own record.

Two trophies and five ITM finishes in eight tournaments allowed Jonas Kronwitter to earn 598 points and take first place on the final leaderboard. For that result the Austrian received a $10,000 PGT Passport package. Sam Soverel was second with 376 points.

These points count toward the PGT seasonal standings, from which the top 40 players will advance to the PGT Championship with a $1 million prize pool. Kronwitter currently sits 68th in those standings. Sean Winter leads, while Artur Martirosian is in 17th place.
