Shot clocks officially debut at the WSOP Circuit
The World Series organizers have rolled out a shot clock at the record-attendance WSOPC Main Event in Austin. Unlike the summer tests in Las Vegas, where the timer was introduced spontaneously in the middle of Day 6 because of a player who spent 15 minutes thinking about a fold, in Texas the system was launched under a pre-approved set of rules.

The clock was switched on starting from Level 16. Players were given 15 seconds to make preflop decisions and 30 seconds postflop. Participants received three sets of 5 time-bank cards each, and exceeding the limit without any time left meant an automatic fold.

The innovation received positive feedback from players. Reigning world champion Lucas Jumalon called the system excellent and urged other series to switch to this format. Winner of 13 WSOPC rings John Holley added that with a field this gigantic, without shot clocks they would have had to play until morning.

WSOP management confirmed that the next testing stage will be the series at Thunder Valley, and by 2027 they plan to make Action Clocks a mandatory standard for all Main Events.
