Shulman and Wantman Ended the $50,000 NLH 7-Handed Tournament With a Deal
The $50,000 No-Limit Hold'em 7-Handed event at the Triton Super High Roller Series drew 49 unique entrants, but the luckiest players were from the USA. Americans took the top three places. Friends Nick Schulman and Matthew Wantman met heads-up, while Ben Tollerene took the "bronze."

Schulman and Wantman agreed to a deal. The Hall of Fame member, who had a slight chip lead, received $810,279, while the 38-year-old regular took $806,721. The title and $30,000 were left on the line.

The friends decided not to drag out the heads-up and flipped blind three times. In the last hand, Schulman with Q♠️7♠️ came close to doubling up, but Wantman with A♥️J♥️ got there with a straight on the river: 7♦️9♦️8♣️3♣️10♠️.

In an interview with Triton's press service, Wantman called himself a mid-stakes regular who enjoys testing himself at a higher level from time to time:
"I haven't even had time to process that I played heads-up against one of my best friends. But it wasn't the most serious game.
I like coming here, challenging myself, playing against the best, proving that I can do it... If you can win here, you can win anywhere."

At the award ceremony, Wantman shouted to Schulman from the center of the room: "It should have been you!" — but Nick just shook his head.
