Russian player Sattarov quintupled his best cash at EPT Barcelona — a record that had stood for 17 years

The European Poker Tour series has kicked off in Barcelona and will run until August 29. One of the first tournaments was an event for veterans over 50 with a €1100 buy-in. The event attracted 218 entries, which formed a prize pool of €268,800.
Five players from the post-Soviet region made it to Day 2. Three of them busted one after another before the final table. Russian Mikhail Nikolaev was eliminated in 17th place (€3840), his compatriot Khazret Nabezhev finished 16th (€3840), and Ukrainian Oleg Okhotsky took 15th place (€4410).
The top 3 was rounded out by Igor Pikhela, who ranks eighth on Estonia's All-Time Money List. He earned €24,840. In the heads-up, Russian Timur Sattarov faced Antoine Vroncken from the Netherlands. The Dutch player's résumé includes WSOP Europe 2021 and WSOP International Circuit champion titles, and his career winnings exceed $1,500,000. Vroncken has now added an EPT trophy to them, along with the top prize of €55,650.
Sattarov received €34,680 for second place. The Russian improved his best cash by nearly 5 times. Previously, his best live tournament result was €7380 for ninth place at a Partouche Poker Tour series event in France in 2009. Sattarov's total career winnings now stand at $64,884.
The EPT Barcelona Main Event with a €5300 buy-in starts on August 22. In addition, the schedule features super high rollers for €30,000, €50,000 and €100,000.
