Dutchman Kanme dedicated his Onyx Main Event win to his brother, who is battling cancer

In Northern Cyprus, the main event of the Onyx High Roller Series with a $25,500 buy-in has come to an end. The winner was Raúl Canme, who started the final table as chip leader and held onto the top spot all the way to the end.

However, at one point Canme squandered his advantage, letting Austrian Matthias Lipp close right in on him. And that's when the key hand of the final table happened.

Canme with ♥️♥️ defended his big blind after a raise from Lipp with ♠️♥️, then check-raised on the ♥️♠️♣️ flop. On the blank ♦️ turn, the Dutchman fired a bet of 3.6 million, and the Austrian called. On the 2️⃣ river, Canme kept bluffing and shoved, holding only a few blinds more than his opponent. Lipp folded, and Canme immediately showed the table his bluff.

A little later, Canme knocked out Alexander Shilko, the only player from the post-Soviet space at the final table. The Dutchman with ♣️♣️ bet 8 million from the small blind and got a snap-call from the Belarusian with ♥️♣️ in the big blind. The ♠️♥️♠️ flop gave Canme a pair of jacks, and the later streets ♠️ and ♥️ didn't improve Shilko. The Belarusian regular busted in fourth, earning $420,000.

In the heads-up, Canme once again faced Matthias Lipp. The Austrian was rapidly losing his stack, and in the decisive hand he shoved with ♥️♥️ and got a call from his opponent with ♣️♦️. The Dutchman's hole cards were enough — ace-high held up on the ♣️♦️♥️♥️♠️ board.

Lipp received $800,000 for second place. Raúl Canme took home $1,250,000, improving his best cash almost 8-fold. The Dutchman dedicated this win to his cousin, who has been battling cancer for several months.
"I want to dedicate this trophy to my cousin. He was diagnosed with cancer 3-4 months ago, and I've been thinking about him this whole time. Thinking about him gave me strength, and I want to dedicate this title to him. I'm so happy I was able to do it. Bro, you know what you mean to me. This win is for you," Canme said in an interview with PokerNews.
