Sean O'Malley Goes From White House to WSOP Vegas

From the White House to a Las Vegas casino. Sean O'Malley played at the World Series of Poker

Former UFC bantamweight champion Sean O'Malley took part in the $1000 Tag Team tournament at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. The fighter played alongside two-time WSOP bracelet winner Jason Koon.

In an interview with PokerNews, O'Malley said he came to Vegas at Koon's invitation, who hosted him along with his family. The former UFC champion also shared his impressions from the first hours of the tournament.
"I did the Big Game on Tour with Jason last year. We stayed in touch, talked a little bit about poker every now and then. And he was like, 'Hey, are you gonna be in Vegas?' I said, 'No, but I can come.' So he hosted me, took care of me and my family. I didn't even know these team tournaments existed.

How did the first few hours at the table go? Jason went up a little bit. And me, you know, won a little, lost a little, nothing crazy. Just lost a couple of small pots in a row. After that I texted Jason: 'I need you to run it up.' He said, 'No problem.'

However, the team didn't manage to make anything happen. During the tournament, O'Malley lost a hand to future finalist Shotaro Murase, going all-in with ♠️♣️. The Japanese player with ♦️♦️ made a pair of deuces on the river.

On June 14, Sean O'Malley fought at the UFC event at the White House, where he knocked out Canadian Aiemann Zahabi in the second round. Note that in May the fighter appeared in the new season of the poker show Big Game on Tour.
