Champion of the EPT Main Event Høivold dies at 53

Winner of the European Poker Tour Main Event and Norwegian Poker Association Hall of Fame member Andreas Høivold has passed away at the age of 53. According to PokerNews, the player passed away on June 17 due to multiple organ failure.

Høivold began his professional career in 2006, and already in 2007 he won the EPT Main Event in Dortmund, earning €672,000. That result remained the best of his career. In the 2000s, Høivold regularly took part in the shows Poker Million and Late Night Poker, and in 2006 he finished third in Poker Million V, winning $250,000.

The Norwegian also repeatedly finished ITM at the World Series of Poker. He came closest to a bracelet in 2015, when he finished sixth in the $3000 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout. In 2016, the Norwegian Poker Association inducted Høivold into its Hall of Fame.

In 2024, the Norwegian outlet Poker.no reported that Andreas Høivold had become a three-time winner of the Norwegian Poker Championship. According to Hendon Mob, the player's last cash came on April 1, 2025, when he finished 30th in the €400 NLH Seniors event at the Poker North Masters & Norwegian Championship in Bratislava, taking home €620. Høivold's career earnings total $1,931,736.
