Joseph Liberta wins $1,500 Millionaire Maker, overcoming the largest field in WSOP 2026

Joseph Liberta became the champion of the $1,500 Millionaire Maker at the World Series of Poker. The event drew a record number of entries for WSOP 2026, with 11,769 players taking part. Liberta claimed his first bracelet and earned $1,250,000, nearly doubling his previous career earnings.

In the heads-up, Joseph Liberta defeated Michael Monroig. In the decisive hand, Monroig went all-in with ♦️♥️ for 22.5 million chips. Liberta called with ♣️♦️. On the ♣️2️⃣♠️ flop, the future champion made trips with fives. On the ♥️ turn, Monroig lost his chances of winning, and the ♥️ river gave Liberta a full house. Monroig earned $1,000,000 for second place, setting a new best cash. Previously, his combined live tournament earnings totaled $150,214.

It's worth noting that this is the fourth time Liberta has cashed in the Millionaire Maker. Back in 2013, he finished 537th, followed by finishes of 345th and 195th. His best WSOP result before this was $101,549 for 15th place in the $25,000 PLO High Roller 8-Handed in 2023.
